Description of the Test:

OPTO was developed to provide a comprehensive personality measure for working age population (18-70 years) based on the Five Factor Model (FFM). It is used for selection, recruitment, development and personal assessment across the majority of vocations and primarily aimed at specialists, managers and executives.

The main purpose is to provide information on 8 dimensions of personality essential to behaviour and performance at work.  The 8 Dimensions are: Agility, Compliance, Cooperation, Delivery, Efficiency, Influence, Innovation, and Resilience. There are also 20 subscales (known as Aspects) to measure facets of personality.

The test consists of 155 items and is administered online only. There are between 7 and 9 items in each Aspect, and between 14 and 24 items in each Dimensions with 2 or 3 Aspects feeding into each Dimension. The results are presented in 6 different computer generated reports.  The Spotlight technology is included in OPTO to encourage test takers to think more about their responses and so increase validity and highlight areas for discussion.

OPTO is designed to capture all essential work behaviour measures from applicants, and to develop confidence in fair selection and recruitment processes. OPTO is administered by certified test users only who have completed Master’s OPTO training and certification program and have test administration rights.

OPTO is available in multiple European languages, and has been used in mainly 4 Northern European countries (UK, Norway, Denmark, Sweden) with ‘white’ population groups. Norms, reliability and validity are available for each Northern European country, including comparative normative information across countries, fairness in testing and revision history.
