Description of the Test
The Critical Reasoning Test Battery* (CRTB2) is the second edition of this test battery. It consists of two ability tests, measuring verbal and numerical reasoning. The tests are designed for use in an occupational context with UK graduate level populations. The 40 item, 15 minute verbal test consists of statements whose truth must be evaluated in the light of a series of passages. Scoring can use a correction factor for possible guessing of answers given its 3-point response format. This was one of the innovations of the latest edition of the battery although norms are only provided for scores without applying the correction. The numerical test contains 25 word problems to be solved using data from tables in 25 minutes. Six multiple choice options are provided and no correction for guessing is used in scoring. The content of the verbal passages and numerical tables generally reflects business topics and are presented in a style similar to that found in the financial pages of the daily press. The test can be administered either by computer or paper-and-pencil with a single reusable booklet containing the two tests and self scoring answer sheet. Scoring and reporting can be automated using of the GeneSysTM system or bureau processing.
