Description of the Test:
The Vienna Test System is a computerised collection of tests and assessments that can be used alone or combined as batteries of tests. The system contains 59 multi lingual instruments covering work, health and education and categorised as Intelligence, General Ability, Special Ability, Personality Structure, Attitude and Interests and Clinical tests. The DAUF is a measure of vigilance, selective and continuous attention and concentration ability, from which general performance, cognitive style and commitment can be inferred. Rows of triangles are shown on the screen pointing either up or down. Whenever a pre-defined number of triangles points down, the test taker is required to press the reaction button. After a given time a new row is presented on the screen. The rows of triangles are presented on the screen either in a regular ascending/descending order or in a random sequence. There are three versions available, clinical form 1 (rows with 5 triangles and regular time intervals), clinical form 2 (rows with 5 triangles and irregular intervals and standard form (rows with 7 triangles and irregular time interval). The clinical forms take about 20 minutes, the standard form about 35 minutes. Within the computerised administration there are practice items with feedback. The proper test administration requires an input panel, although the test works with the keyboard as well, by pressing the return key. (However, the instructions to the test-taker would have to be modified since a standard keyboard does not have a green button.) Scoring is based on the number of correct and number of incorrect items (i.e. false positives). In addition reaction time data is provided in the form of mean time correct and mean time incorrect. Norms based on T-scores and percentile ranges are available for all test forms. A short description of the results is provided which can be copied into a reporting shell which is contained in the system.
