Description of the Test
The CST is designed to provide a measure of pure (fluid) intelligence. It is concerned with the basic capacity to understand. This is described in terms of the process by which a person absorbs and integrates experience and observations, allowing for the development of an understanding of various phenomena. The test consists of 60 items. Each item contains a series of shapes which resemble a string of beads. Each of the beads varies in shape, size and colour. The beads are arranged in a series which follows a pattern. The subject has to choose the next two beads to continue the pattern.
