Description of the Test

CS7 is a self-assessment occupational personality questionnaire designed for customer service roles or roles where customer contact is a primary concern. It consists of 80 questions related to 6 scales chosen for their relevance to customer service roles plus a social desirability scale. The 6 scales are: People Focus: empathy and interest in others Social Confidence: confidence in social interaction Drive: energy, ambition and pro-activity Quality Focus: organisation, structure and concern with quality Caution: anxiety, resilience and response to criticism Procedural: conformity, conservatism and lack of openness to change. The items are made up of a single statement to which the candidate responds using a 5 point Likert type scale of strongly agree to strongly disagree. Administration is by pencil and paper or computer – on-line or off-line, and candidates take on average fifteen minutes to complete the questionnaire. It must be scored via the computer and a number of computer generated reports are available, including a candidate report and reports for the HR professional. The original version was published in 1998 but this new edition omits the ipsative second section of the original version (used to measure social desirability) and includes a social desirability scale within the normative section instead.
